Who we are Orchids.com is a natural outgrowth of one of today's most successful orchid nurseries: Norman's Orchids. Based in Montclair, California, Norman's Orchids is a family owned and operated orchid nursery that was founded in 1986. Orchids.com grows exquisite orchid plants for every level of the flowering orchid plant market: decorator, florist, potted plant retailer, orchid aficionado and, especially, individual clients. Our goal is to provide the finest specimens to people who wish to share and enjoy the beauty of nature's most evolved floral gift. Our nursery is a sophisticated producer of premier healthy orchid plants in bloom, or in the process of blooming. Our superior efforts in orchid plant culture and quality control achieve bountiful displays of flowers in many luscious colors. This is brought about by careful management of our greenhouse environment. Norman's Orchids has participated in numerous orchid shows throughout the United States and Canada. We have received trophies, medals and accolades for our displays and flowers. Our exhibit in the 16th World Orchid Conference 1999, that took place at Vancouver, British Columbia, earned more medals for Phalaenopsis [Moth Orchids] than any other exhibitor. We placing second in overall points won for the entire conference. We are the leading producers of the Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, Paphiopedilum [Lady Slippers] and Oncidium alliance orchid plants. Unlike other merchandisers, we painstakingly grow the orchids ourselves. These plants are grown in one place, flowered in another, and ultimately shipped. Personal attention and special care is at the heart of our packaging methods. This ensures that the gift plants you order arrive in prime condition. This provides each recipient with the utmost level of quality. Norman's orchid knowledge and role as spokesman are bolstered by his sister Jamie. Her marketing and design skills and extensive experience have evolved from her business: THE ORCHID AFFAIR, located at the Los Angeles Flower Market. At the nursery, Norman's mother, Hsi-Mei, oversees the growing of the orchids. His father Charley is in charge of physical plant. In addition, his brother Eric contributes his own interests and business acumen that stand at the core of our enterprise.
