Exclusive first release of this vibrant show stopper in the USA!  It is considered one of the best compact art shade cattleyas from Japan today. The ancestry of this cross can be traced back to Miyamoto Orchids of Hawaii, who hybridized many of the finest yellow and red cattleyas. Pot. Shin Fong Honey has the famous Pot. Prosperous Lee from Japan as a parent—considered one of the best red Cattleya, rarely seen in USA. Fragrant 3-inch sunset red flowers are well presented above compact growths. The lip is ruffled and has a splash of yellow in the center. The plant in the photo is blooming in a 4-inch pot. It can flower twice a year—once in spring and again in the fall. The cool temperature of spring will produce flowers with deep red color, while the warmer fall temperatures will tend to produce flowers that are more orange-red. It was given the clonal name ‘Red Lantern’ as the blooms occur around Chinese Lunar New Year. Award quality and highly recommend .
