FALL HAS
ARRIVED...and we're seeing its impact on all of
our flowering stock. With the advent of shorter days, brighter
light and cooler nights, our flower colors are more vivid than ever,
vying with fall's bright leaf colors to outdo them in
brilliance. We've highlighted some of the best of the seasonal
colors below, encompassing every genus from Phalaenopsis to
Cattleyas. At this time of year, they're producing their most
vivid hues, and their flowering can last even longer due to fall's
shorter and cooler days. For an expanded and even greater
selection of possibilities, go to our Home Page and select "Orchids
in Bud/Spike" to choose from our vast selection of fall
bloomers.

MC756 Pot. Kozo's Scarlet
'Vi-Emi' is as brilliant as the colors of fall.
As the flowers continue to mature, you will be rewarded with a
fragrant head of velvety scarlet flowers, their radiant color best
enjoyed in the light of the morning sun.

MC747 Lc. Tristar Bouquet
'Florabunda' is the ultimate bouquet of
cattleyas! Long-lasting flowers grace this cluster of
splash-petal excitement, the petals mimicking the deep fuchsia-pink
lip. A compact and easy grower.

MC1279 Dtps. The Pride of Ben Yu 'Ben
Yu' AM/AOS This clone is the ultimate in excitement resulting from
today's Phalaenopsis breeding programs. Winner of both an
American Orchid Society award for flower quality and also
garnering many Best Phalaenopsis in Show trophies, its
splash-petal magnificence cannot be topped. A true Show
Stopper!

MC1175 Phal. Tzu Chiang Chrisna
'Fuller' AM/AOS
Fragrance,
heavy substance and compact spikes combine in this exceptional
clone. Awarded at the 2007 Taiwan International Orchid Show, the
judges were struck by this mating of a multifloral miniature with a
fragrant waxy novelty hybrid. Compact branching spikes produce round
ivory flowers with the added impact of a pure white lip. Fragrance
is similar to that of Brassavola digbyana, and the flowers are as
thick as carboard ! One of our most favorite new additions to the
Fragrance
Collection.

Orchid Tips: With
the advent of Fall, we're seeing shorter days and slower vegetative
growth...which also means a shorter day-length for the orchids to
dry after watering and less need for the heavier fertilizer program
of spring and summer. A good rule of thumb, especially at this
time of year, is to water early in the day on a sunny day, giving
the plants sufficient time to dry before the coolness of
nightfall. Giving your plants a little more space will
help increase their air circulation to aid in the drying
process. Also, with the reduction of vegetative growth, the
orchids will need less fertilizer. Reduce your fertilizer
concentration to 1/4 the recommended strength until you see new root
or vegetative growth in late winter or early spring. An
excellent general purpose fertilizer, formulated especially for
orchids, is Norman's Optimal Orchid Nutrients, which can be used
year 'round, by simply varying the concentration applied
according to the
season.
